Solar energy is indispensable as a central component of the energy transition in order to cope with the climate crisis. However, the production of solar modules is often associated with social and environmental risks. For example, much of the global production of solar products takes place in China, especially in Xinjiang province, where forced labour is often used. At the same time, the production and further processing of silicon is associated with high greenhouse gas emissions. Our new brochure sheds light on the challenges along the supply chain of silicon-based solar modules and highlights approaches to make the purchase of solar modules more sustainable.<\/p>\n
