Resistance to deep-sea mining in the Pacific and Germany<\/h4>\n<\/div>\n

More and more companies are planning to harvest raw materials from the seabed. Deep-sea mining is expected to damage or permanently destroy sensitive marine ecosystems. Although there are also loud voices from the Pacific that speak out against deep-sea mining, they have so far hardly been taken into account in political decisions (in countries such as Germany but also in Oceania itself). It is finally time to listen to these voices. For this purpose, we conducted interviews with civil society actors from Tonga, the Cook Islands and New Zealand.<\/p>\n
