Several thousand hectares of rainforest are cleared for the Mirador mine in Ecuador. Among other things, copper foils for the production of lithium-ion batteries and electronic circuit boards for electric cars are produced from the copper. It is very likely that these will also be used in the German automotive industry. In Ecuador, people complain of serious human rights violations, including murder, violence and brutal resettlement. Millions of cubic meters of mine wastewater contaminate the rivers. There is a threat of breaking the dams of the sedimentation basins with millions of tons of toxic mine sludge up to the Amazon.<\/p>\n
