Zusammen mit Nickel, ist es ein wichtiger Batterierohstoff, um den Kobaltanteil zu reduzieren. Ein Gro\u00dfteil der Manganerzimporte nach Deutschland kommt \u00fcber die Niederlande aus<span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\"> S\u00fcdafrika. <\/span><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">Der Bergbau f\u00fchrt in der Region zu Wassermangel und der Verschmutzung von Wasser, Luft und B\u00f6den.<\/span> Mangan wird haupts\u00e4chlich im industriellen Tagebau oder Tiefbau abgebaut, gleichzeitig droht aber auch der Abbau von sogenannten Manganknollen in der Tiefsee.<\/p>\n<p>In der Publikation \"Das unbekannte Mangan - Zerst\u00f6rung an Land und Bedrohung in der Tiefsee?!\" zeigen wir anhand von Visualisierungen, Statistiken und Zitaten, warum der Rohstoff dringend in die novellierte Batterieverordnung aufgenommen werden muss. Dieses Projekt wurde gef\u00f6rdert durch das Umweltbundesamt und das Bundesministerium f\u00fcr Umwelt, Naturschutz, nukleare Sicherheit und Verbraucherschutz.
