Three rivers that supplied water to an adjacent village have dried up as a result of bauxite mining. Agriculture is so impossible. The compensation is too low and does not allow for own income. The German government issued its loan guarantee even though it knew early on about the human rights consequences of mining. In 2018, 92 percent of Germany's bauxite imports came from Guinea.
