Danger to the environment and consumers?<\/h4>\n

Regulatory cooperation is an important part of the EU's new free trade agreements. It is enshrined, among other things, in the Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement (CETA) between Canada and the EU and plays a central role in the negotiations on a new EU-US trade agreement that began in early 2019.<\/p>\n

So far, regulatory cooperation agreements have tended to be a secondary issue in the public debate \u2013 wrongly, because regulatory cooperation can pose a relevant threat to environmental protection, labour rights, and health standards.<\/p>\n
